THE HUNGER PERSUIT

Just like life, hunger is evident everywhere. Hunger comes in many ways. This depends on whether it is the physical deprivement of food or emotional or psychological. Hunger can be viewed in different dimensions depending on the drive behind that particular hunger. The yearning for food is the most and the commonest hunger we know of. Beside that there is the hunger for other material things this world can offer. These material things can range from money to owning alot of property. There is the other hunger which is said to be of ancient origin but now it was also predicted in the Holy Scriptures as a characteristic of the modern man. This is the intellectual hunger. The hunger to know more. the hunger for knowledge. the hunger to be a step ahead or above one's peers. this should not be confused with the search for wisdom. the search for wisdom is more noble than this. it is there for the few who are ready to use the acquired knowledge to put it into better use for the betterment of themselves and everyone else. the use of knowledge for selfish personal gain is what is reffered to as GREED. Greed is never satisfied. most of the knowledge we seek is usually around us. this is in the form of human resources, beginning with ourselves. then the people around us froom parents, relatives, friends, teachers and even every other stranger we get to meet on thhe way each day.

I will teach you one word. That word will turn the dull mind into a bright mind. It will turn the bright mind into a brilliant mind. It will turn the brilliant person into a steadfast person. That word will open doors for you. That word will roll out red carpets for you. That word will connect you to some of the most beautifull and powerfull people in the world. That word will give every person success. That miracle word is W-O-R-K!

The phone rings continuously. He wonders, should he pick or not? His mind moves fast to a distant past. He can see the day, he feels it. He sees everybody who was around. But two people cannot be mistaken. First, the lady. This is the lady whom he has known both at happy times and trying times. In the young boy's mind she is her heroine. No lady can work like her, no one can cook tasty food like she cooks, no woman can love like her and above all she is the no nonsense disciplinarian. This last attribute is the one that surrounds the events of the day.[to be continued...]

Today I did my share, in the nation building... These are the opening lines of a poetic rendition by Henry Barlow. He talks of two individuals who spend their days together but earn their bread differently. One is a senior government officer the other is a most junior worker{one is permanent secretary while the other is his driver}. It's very ironic as one complains of hunger pangs the other complains of ulcers due to the sumptuous lunch. Both are headed home after a day in building the nation. That can be slightly compared to the paying of taxes. As others are struggling with how to meet their tax returns because of the meagre income, others are struggling with keeping their huge non taxable salaries under taxed/non taxed. The difference between the two is not their level of education neither is place of birth but being a member of parliament in Kenya, a job that doesn't need brain but the mouth to speak when you're the benefactor. These Mp's also want to be congratulated when they do the obvious and mandatory i.e paying taxes. While other workers are threatened and even sued for failing to remit their tax returns on time or for failing to remit them even for a month. Remember both of them are building this nation but from different offices. Both love their nation Kenya! Long live Kenya?

A Friend

We may have friends at whom we may be sharing same business, education, social status, ambitions, country, tribe, children etc but there's still a friend who sticks closer than a brother. That friend is Jesus!

Catching the Dream!

An instant realisation, provocation, explanation of my potential began the chase to grab my dream.
